Wild surf, rugged bush-clad hills, beautiful waterfalls, resonating bird-song...Just some of what you'll see and hear if you come on this grass roots tour.
I've been a member of a Auckland tramping club for ten years, and I have 6 years experience guiding groups most weekends. I know the bush and the wilderness parts of Auckland's spectacular west coast, we call the Waitakere Ranges that borders the Tasman Sea, and you'll enjoy being out in the wild for a day's fun at a grass roots level.
Come out with me for a half or a full day mid week -an Eco-Guided Bush Tour, or on a Saturday and you'll see the unique interior of Auckland's Waitakere Ranges with time to stop to enjoy the views and identify trees. No previous hiking experience needed but average fitness required. All less than an hours drive from the CBD.
I'll pick you or one other up in an air conditioned ,tidy car, and first up will be a visit to Arataki, the info centre on the outskirts of the Waitakere's. Then it's a 3 hour bush walk experience, stopping to see some large kauri tree's, over 400 years old then a visit to some historic sites, and get some breath-taking wilderness views looking out over black sand beaches like Piha or Whatipu near the Manakau Heads.
Really, what more could you ask for?
Plenty of time to see Auckland's Bush and Beyond..plus options to do what you'd like as well, with a born and bred kiwi who knows Auckland's tracks through the bush, like the back of his hand, and with safety and bushcraft skills ,you'll be treated fairly and honestly.
